We welcome you today! Whether you just “happened upon” this site or were previously invited to check it out, we are glad that you did! Tabernacle has been in existence since 1875. From that time, the purpose of the church (as recorded in the constitution) has been “…to glorify God in all things, and to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ…(and) also labor for the fellowship and perfecting of the saints and the salvation of the lost.” In 1978, a terrible tornado ripped through the Northport area and destroyed the church building. In the midst of such devastation, the congregants still pressed on and rebuilt another sanctuary with a basement full of classrooms. The reality is that, even with a new place to worship, they knew that true church is not about a building but is manifested through the lives of believers in Christ. Come what may, they clung to the promise that not even the gates of hell can prevail against the Church (Matthew 16:18). Through the years, our purpose of glorifying God and proclaiming the gospel has not wavered nor has our hope in the goodness of God. We invite you to come and experience this same hope as well. Until then, we pray that, “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
Simply a servant,
Pastor Horton
